Society of Surgical Oncology

At Executive Administration Inc., Curt was hired to manage the web and communications functions for the Society of Surgical Oncology, one of their 12 medical-society clients at the time.

The initial challenge Curt was given was to lead the comprehensive redesign of SSO’s website (www.surgonc.org). This included

  1. Definition of requirements
  2. Site architecture
  3. User interface design
  4. Database integration, and
  5. Multiple vendor management

To accomplish this, he worked with multiple physician stakeholders to develop new web content including a video library, social media integration, discussion boards, and real-time member data updates. Following the site launch, he tracked website activity with Google Analytics, and used search engine optimization (SEO) to increase traffic.

Other Accomplishments

Among his other communications responsibilities, Curt wrote e-newsletters, email marketing blasts, and press releases for the Society. He established the first social media presence for the Society on LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Curt worked with multiple graphic design firms to develop membership brochures and recruitment program for the Society, using direct mail, email marketing, and a trade show booth. His work impressed EAI’s management so much that it was used as a model for other EAI client teams.
